We discovered that the crucial winning factor was shifting points. We collectively concluded that shifting at 8000 rpm was the most efficient.

Yes it is John, I will post up my dyno chart later and you can see the torque curve after 8000rpm. With long tube headers and appropriate tune, those characteristics change and shifting points change too.
