What would be the average range for an M5, cruising around 75 to 85 mph, be?
I know what BMW publishes approx 183 miles. Is this realistic? I drive from Dallas,Tx
to Ruidoso, New Mexico 5 to 7 times a year, there is a stretch that could go about 135 miles without
a gas stop at certain times of day. Any figures would be great!
Thanks.

Wow...do /M5's have smaller gas tanks than the rest of the e60 stable mates (18 gl.)? 183 miles doesn't seem very far!

Impossible 183 miles with 17-18 gallons . This would be too much even for the M5

After researching m5 boards the best guess I have come up with would be:
In 400 hp mode @ 70 mph = 11 miles a gallon
In 400 hp mode @ 80 mph = 9 miles a gallon
Does this sound right?

I get 12 lit/100 km at 120 kph. That is 20 US miles per gallon. Your figures in miles per gallon are my city driving milages, not highway. 400 or 500 hp mode makes no difference on my highway fuel usage.

Wow I had no idea they were so thirsty ... I'm thinking about an F10 M5 as next car (I know it's a while off) but unless they do somebody about tank size/mpg it would be out of the question. Not in terms of paying for the fuel, but having to stop to fill up so damn often...!

I get about 200 miles per tank in mixed highway and city/suburban driving. Best I've ever done is 240 miles on a tank with all highway driving.

Not in terms of paying for the fuel,

Why do you want to waste money buying fuel or time stopping at the petrol station, if your dealership sells the 550i, with more and more torque at lows and very similar overall performance ?
Otherwise you could get the new B5S, 530 HP and more torque than your current remapped 535d
(and still a better mileage than the M5, going faster)
Today, at least .
