It's been a while since I've been active on e60 but I still check if from time to time. Ever since I got rid of my beloved 545 I've been constantly looking for another BMW. I've been torn between an 09 335i or a 06 m5. These are the 2 bmws that I'm interested in. I can obtain an 08 335i 6mt loaded with nav and about 60,000kms (bone stock) or a 06 interlagos blue m5 with 87,000kms. Both the vehicles are about the same price. The m5 has some mods which is kind of a bonus..it has the eisenmann oval exhaust, matte black grills and matte black side vents. It also has 2 sets of rims and tires, the oem 166 and oem 167s. it has all the options that I want except for 1, HUD. Other than that its 95% what I want. I guess my concern is the M5 problems that majority seem to run into. I know you gents wouldnt be able to tell me exactly what it is I want to hear to justify to myself that an m5 is the better option for me, but I guess I'm just venting hahaha and I figured that e60 members an m5 would understand. So to continue, the 335i would be a daily driver project. Do all the basic and tune and maybe even more. We all know that the 335 is a very capable vehicle, no doubt. I just love the m5 too much even when I know it's not the best option.

Here is the m5 Vin: WBSNB9354B582203

Maybe if someone kind enough could do a search on this vin. The used car dealer says its from out of province but won't release to me yet where it's from or any of it's repair history.
And info would be fantastic.
Thanks!

how about a loaded '08 550i? Great DD with comparable maintenance cost to the 335i. I would love a M5 also, however i think a 550i is enough for me. I am pretty anal about my 550i and it would just be worse with the M5. Too much stress.

I used to have a 545i..Ive driven a 550 and even though the power is great, im still lookin for more. I also chose the 335 because of the ridiculous aftermarket mods, and numbers you can achieve at a relatively low cost. Im taking my time (trying to anyway) I sold my M3 in the summer and now only have my Lexus Ill wait until I find the "Perfect" car for me.

I'm hearing you load and clear, the M5 beckons...... here boy, come and get me. The only reason I didn't get one was that here in Australia a good 06 model will set you back around $100K, and I picked up my 07 550i, with absolutely every option available including HUD for $44K along with a trade in. One day, One day.
I say go for it, if i could pick one up for the prices I've seen them for in the States then I would be in one RIGHT NOW!!

Dude just go on M5bord.com

The memeber there are always selling there cars check there. I have an 06 M5 (the year everyone says not to get) and it runs perfect. Maintenenace isnt to bad. Long as you maintain your vehicle it will run perfect. I wouldnt worry about all the bad news the M5 gets.

I bought my 06 M5 almost two years ago and I've never regretted it. You need to get a thorough service history check on any pre-LCI beast. If all the recalls were performed, you can be fairly certain that the car will run reliably. Clutch bearing, Vanos Oil Line, and SMG pump are the big ones. A good aftermarket warranty is the icing on the cake for complete peace of mind.
