That is bizarre. I do not understand how you get the extra 100 bhp without an impact on fuel economy.

I will be happy to have someone give me a M5 to test it out myself.
As a matter of fact, just to be sure that all of the driving styles are covered in this test, I think someone should just lease an M5 for 6mos or so of leasetrader or swapalease for the NYC area members and we'll each take turns driving it for a day or so. And since its my idea, I'll be the first to drive (after Scott, bc its more his idea that I've "dressed up" ). If the lease payment and insurance is about 2 grand a month, we can each drive the car for ~$70 per day plus gas and then return it to BMW and we'll each have driven the M5 long enough to have logged some test results for fuel economy. But since we're gonna be doing this for a while, we might as well test all the other features - I, for one, will be testing M5's APM (Amplified Pussy Magnet) system - its a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it... Anyway, so who's up for this "Group Buy"?

Of course, you can pick up a M5 lease on Leasetrader anywhere from the $1,100 to $1,500 range depending on the miles, whether the leasee made a cap cost reduction at the inception of the lease and whether the leasee if offering incentives. Thanksfully, $2K/month is not the going rate for the M5. Next time around, I may just assume someone else's lease instead of getting one brand new.

So if we pick up on of those M5s for $1,110-$1,200 per month, splitting it many ways will be pocket change....

Well, I was giving it the highest possible estimate and also including insurance - I'd imagine insuring the beast is a bit more costly than my 530Xi huh, Joe?

I'll do the insurance. I'm getting close to middle age, married with a kid. I'm low risk.

Even insuring in Manhattan? Oh... We could switch your license to Phil's parents' house in PA and it'll be probably cheaper than what most people pay for a 335

Ha ha ha. Except that in the event of a major accident, if the insurer found out that I did that and did not live there, they would disclaim coverage.
