Order some Klima Cleaner from detailersdomain, com and spray the evaporator - could just be the moisture accumulating and mold and mildew is growing on it.
If this doesn't help, you'll have to go searching for dead animals inside the car's annals somewhere.
I'm actually planning to spray my evaporator today, so I'll try to put up a half-decent diy on it - apparently, with all the vast resources of 5series.net, we still are too good for a friggin' evaporator spray DIY - till now, that is![Big Grin](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/biggrin.gif)
Anyway, spray the evaporator and if it doesn't help, you'll have to find the source - which is most likely a dead squirrel or rat. Have fun
LOL
PS oh, yes, and swapping the microfilters never hurts either, but I doubt it'll solve the issue - fixes aren't often that simple

I checked the 2 filters where all the dust comes in, and it was empty and I cleaned the filters as well. Weird, I am gonna go to the dealership so they can look for dead raccoons....

Also, some people say that after driving just before shutting the car off, you might want to let the vents run with the "air" (compressor) turned off so that the system dries out.
