I waited over a year before I finally decided to schedule my 1 day complimentary M driving course... just kept putting it off... When I finally called I had to beg them to schedule me in... they said I waited too long but somehow I was able to get them to fit me in... Without a doubt one of the best experiences I've ever had..
Definitely worth the effort! Just don't be an idiot like me and wait too long..

but if you don't bring a companion along, does that mean double the seat time for you?

You get X amount of seat time for the day... you're companion can ride with you or you can take turns driving but yes that would mean less driving time for you...
Call me selfish but I'm glad I went alone... there's were a few sad companion faces the day I was there... I'm sure it was distracting to those drivers..

i believe that you can also bring somebody along if you have bought the car new, and they also get some seat time as well.
Bring a companion and you'll end up with 50/50 seat time because the instructors will make you switch positions. However, if either companion gets car sick (which happened to two participants), they get to sit it out with an instructor on the hill with his walkie-talkie, watching all the Ms go flying by.

Go solo (like I did) and you drive all day long! Best way to hone your M driving skills IMO.
