will the IPOD adapter from the factory fit the nano???
It should, I have the 8gig old NANO. It's the long one in black, 8 gig, so if thats the one you are refering to then the answer is yes.

My new M5 arrived yesterday afternoon. I've just been out for my first blast in it and love it already. It's not perfect - The DAB radio can't pick up a signal, so it's back to the dealer's on Monday. There is no USB cable provided, and BMW's one is ?40, believe it or not. The iPod integration is pretty poor. And of course the fuel disappears so fast I'd better check for a leak (I'd better get used to that). I've already had several thumbs-up from other drivers at the lights, though, so I'm glad that the dealer talked me out of a 550.

Fantastic car, congratulations and have lots of fun.

I have a question about the London tax system. I read that Porsche sued London for the daily car taxes or something and I wonder what kind of tax it is and why people are so mad about it.
Are you bothered by it with your M5?

By the way, I read that Porsche won this case from London. Porsche makes me smile: They're a relatively small company but the thing they did with VW and now winning from London city... Fantastic!

Luckily I work outside the congestion charging zone (in Canary Wharf). For those who have to go into the zone they have to pay 8 pounds a day, whether to pass through or to stay. parking costs are of course extra. The proposal from the last mayor was to charge "gas guzzlers" 25 pounds a day. It would probably have included my M5 if I went in but frankly he was targetting the 4WD (SUV) crowd. Simple, old school class jealousy, nothing really to do with environmentalism if you ask me. Anyway the incoming mayor made it an election manifesto pledge to scrap it if elected and has just made history by being the first politician to actually deliver on a promise.

First off, congrats on the new ride. It looks awfully familiar.

As for the iPod/USB cable, that should be provided by the dealer fre-of-charge, if you have that option. And what is poor about the iPod integration? You said you don't even have a cable yet. I think it works great!

As for gas, get used to it. I am averaging about 15.2 mpg, and I haven't even hit my 1200 miles yet. So, it will be more like 12 after that.

Welcome aboard!
Nice ride, did you get SMG or stick?

Only SMG available here in the UK. Absolutely no complaints though, especially now it's run in. The changes are incredibly quick at full throttle, if a little brutal!
