Loved your story and your passion Jon. Sounds like great fun. I drive nearly 700 miles one way to do the 318 curves of the Tail of the Dragon, which unfortunately is a publc road so always the threat of two way traffic. Still, it is a thrill and addicting as I am sure the RING will be to you now. I expect one of these stories every 6 months now from you until you get down to 8 min 12 sec

Keith... Out of the 4 guys that came with their GTR's, only one of them really drove it properly hard round the track. He had an 8 min 19 second lap.
My aim is to get my time down to 8 min 30 sec next time round. Should be going back in September. Plans are going to be underway next week or the week after!
As for getting down to 8 min 12 sec, cobradav, we'll see!! Maybe in a few times time... (if that makes sense!!)
Oh, and drivers paradise.... Hell yeah!! Only thing it's missing is a swimming pool with bar and tequilas! Other than that, no complaints!! HAHA!!
