Just checked with BMWNA today, my car is now status 150 - in production. Hopefully I'll have a VIN next week...

If Owner's Circle shows you "In Production" as of today then it probably started on Thur or Fri. This should mean that your car will be completed next week.

I was told that the M5 frames and bodies are assembled on the same line as the 5 series but go across the street to the M shop for the drive train and other special parts, so it may take a bit longer than a typical 5 series.

Also, my dealer had the VIN for me within 10 days of getting the production number (which was assigned the moment the order was placed). So you should be able to get it now.

My car is now in paint shop. Current completion date is 9/9/05.

The wait is so horrible.
