and is this unexpected? or are they on schedule?

i just check my status again. it's now 50, plan for production, and the VIN is finally avilalbe.

Thank you for the good news. This is great. Hopefully my car will be done this week. Be on a boat next week. I should be able to get my car by mid october.

Dingolfing is closed untill the 5th ( First day of september changes )

A VIN is assigned to your car before it goes into final production
Your engine comes from its factory already assigned to your VIN , even before your body has its VIN printed on it

Cidair, can you just hop in your M5 and run down to the plant and check? Should only take you a few hours...

I just sent off an e-mail to dingolfing. Hopefully we can get a clear answer tomorrow.

Well, I think my answer is pretty clear. My friend works at the Dingolfing plant!

Dear Cidair,

thank you. That's what i understand as well.

Here is e-mail response from BMW dingolfing confirming that they are in full production since 8/22/05. (e-mail address removed to prevent massive flood of e-mail).

Pardon me for jumping in here on the M5 forum, but I just called the BMW NA contact number Wolverine provided (hat tip, thanks), and my 550 has been built (completed Sep 1) and is on its way to the port.

So, it does look like BMW has things rolling along solidly and maybe a bit ahead of schedule. Hopefully we will all see our cars a week or so earlier than expected.
