I didn't think he was directing that at me or I hope not. Nothing in my comment above said I hate non-M5s.

But thanks for jumping in to defend me John.
Anytime Tony, just figured yours was the closest M5er post so he might have taken your post out of context.

ECF doesn't hate on non-M's, he never has that I can recall. He is right many of us CAN afford an M, hell I can, but chose the 530 for fuel savings (I had an SRT-8 Jeep that cost me $750/mo in gas and wasn't about to go from that to a V-10). I agree all but the badge and it's fine. Even if you don't have an M5 there's no need to pretend you do, be happy you're driving a 5 series - most people can't, we are pretty fortunate.
I wish I could afford an M5. If I ever can my 545 is gona in a heartbeat. I'm not really too worried about mileage, Just having fun driving.

Well, gas was spiking when I bought my car, it has become (not reasonably so) more stable price wise so an M5 now is a better deal than ever. Tha tis why I have (with the wife's approval ) decided that yes, in fact the M5 is next for me. I can't wait.

Yeah it did get pretty bad for a minute there. I had a 2006 6 cylinder Chrysler 300 back then, and I get better mileage now racing around with my V8.

Don't bother, all the 325i drivers will look down at you for trying to replicate their car

In Germany, where understatement is more popular, you see smaller engine badges on higher performance cars, e.g. a TDi (Turbo Diesel) badge on an Audi RS4 or 318d on a 335d. I can see the amusement factor when you put the pedal down, but not my taste and I think it's also rubbing it in other peoples faces to a certain extent who can only afford the car your effectively joking about.

You told it, just yesterday I saw an M5 with a 520D Badge, of course I recognized it as THE M5, but a EVO IX or better, a GOLD GTI driver will not recognize that this is an EMMY, then you can make a big LOL when you let him breathe your burning rubber on the red light

I don't get why some people get a 525 or something and dump like $15k of mods in it...why not just save that money for an m5
because over here in everthing costs ashitload land (m5 new 144,000euros with no extras) and gas at 1,19euros a litre we dont buy big engines
