Since he pretty much smoked you from the start, you did get a good look at the tail pipes, right? Was it quads or duals? I get the feeling that it was a poser RS6.

It may have been that one, I know it had those LED fogs lights like the R8 has on it. I'm not sure if those were on previous generations.
It had dual exhaust, thats all that I saw of it after he pulled away.

Huh, interesting. It could be a 2008 RS6 by the way you're describing it. Like swajames said, you might have seen a test mule. It's not that far fetched, b/c I recall that BMW brought over the 535d and it was spotted but there's no plans to release it here.

I've seen an RS6 sedan driving on Tyson's Corner in Northern VA. I let him pass me so I could view the car and saw a V10 emblem on the back.
This is the same engine used on the Lambo.
Very nice car indeed.

RS6 2008 would waste the M5 in every aspect, for sure im cheering for the beemer, but 580bhp is far superior to the 507bhp of the M5, plus 4wd Quattro wheels on the Audi.
There is no comparison, and before some1 mentions it
I think the Audi would prob edge ahead of the E63 AMG Too, however that has to be seen, keeping an eye out for the chips up at Konieggesegg airfield, as im sure the M5, RS6, E63 Will have a 1500bhp plus battle.........................................

Before you ca judge already if there is a comparison or not maybe it would be better to see some direct head to head tests as you mentioned it.
From the standing start probably the RS6 will have the edge since it has 4wd and lots more power and way more torque but what happens at top speeds?! Are you sure that, both derestricted, the RS6 will be able to keep up with outstanding hgh revs and SMG 3 7 speed gearing???
Also are you sure that in corners it would handle the same? I mean i saw the 5th Gear test with Tiff N. and i can say i didn't like what i saw (around the corners----alot of sqeualing and creeking from those tires and awd system trying to shift toqrue endlessly) and the fact that audi insisted that he should not attempt any powerslides (i wonder why ) even thought Tiff has plenty of experience and they were on a track.
So i would strongly suggest to skip the verdict for now, at least for all "connaisseurs" ! Cars are not really bought after seeing the 1/4 times, 0-60 or M5board videos on the Konieggesegg airfield.

I think the OP saw an S6. The S6 has a V10 and LED DRL's. It's fast and sounds great. It's not really aggressive looking which was one of the complaints of Audi purists who live for the S models. The "R"S models are a different story. The new RS6 is not out in America and it is only an Avant model at present. I think Audi has heard their customers loud and clear and will start to design their S models a bit more aggressively. The compaint was that the s models werent differentiated enough from the regular grocery getters and this will change. I, personally am in love with the RS6 Avant and would jump at the chance to own one. It's the ultimate sleeper. 600hp all black debadged sleeper. One can dream.

I think the new RS6 might beat the M5 on a straight line.
But, I don't think the audi can handle the M5 on race tracks.
BMW is made with a superior handling.
