I was cruising down the road earlier and I these LED lights approaching behind me. We eventually stop at the light, and I look over and its a brand new rs6. The car looks absolutely sick, with the LED fog lights. I gave him a thumbs up to the hot blond passenger and she looked away. Anyways I guess he thinks I wanna race him(I would stand no chance in my meager 525 ) So he hauls ass full throttle, and I'm just drooling over the sound of it, and pulls away into the distance. So I was wondering who would win if the RS6 ran a M5? They are both V10's, I don't see many M5's around here, but I bet the exhaust sounds just as sick. I'm talking m5 vs s6 stock race. I guess he thought the thumbs up meant a race, instead of directed at the car.

I came very close to getting an S6 last year before I got the 997. Between the M5 and the S6, the M5 is the quicker of the two, there's no doubt. That said, the S6 is also an incredible car in its own right. The exhaust note as you say is just awesome (the V10 in the S6 is a detuned distant cousin of the powerplant in the Gallardo) and it's a great car to drive around. I really liked it a lot, it's a true sleeper, but in terms of pure speed it's not in the same league as the M5.

Big Kudos to Audi on the design and technology , that is one pretty car ................I really think that BMW has to be a little nervous on the design front ..................Cheers

With the RS6 its too close. I think the RS6 would have the edge on the M5.

Ahh. Sorry, I responded pre-edit. If you're talking the new RS6 then that's a tough call, that new twin turbo V10 is an absolute monster. Then again, the new RS6 isn't yet released in North America. It's still wagon only and that's not destined for these shores. The sedan may eventually make it. You sure you didn't see the prior gen RS6? If the car you saw was the new one, maybe you saw a test car!

I know of one RDSport black M5 that put the smack down on a RS6 not to long ago. It was UGLY.

Are you sure it isn't released? I'm absolutely positive it was the brand new RS6. I was at the light for about 2 minutes next to it checking it out.
I wish I would have taken a picture! There was a older guy driving with a blond girl in the passenger seat.
It looked like this one.

Yep, only the Avant (wagon) is currently available and Audi apparently has no plans to bring it to the US market. The sedan is supposed to make it over here but it's not available yet (I'd heard 2009, but not sure)
