700HP CTS-V...
Some one (Hennessey) has done it already...
Looks like he's taken some focus off the wicked Vipers, and began tweaking the CTS-V...

but the M5 sounds sexier with its NA monster under the hood... the power of all engine is so much more impressive to me than any turbo or sc'ed car...

I prefer NA over SC or Turbo. But, I prefer SC over a Turbo.
To me, a turbo-charged car, while generally bad-arse, is the ultimate (albeit effective) cheat- followed closely by NOS.

Flame on, I think my next car will be a CTS-V even though it is ugly. I could never afford a M5 but a CTS-V just may be able to sneak into the budget!

Say what you want, but the Caddy will never be an M - period. It is still a Cadillac after all and therefore better suited for "Huggy Bear" than for Rubens Barichello. Just because you make a fast pimp car doesn't make it less of a pimp car. BTW, have you seen the 860HP M5 someone produced right here in SoCal? I'll look for it and post the link.

Why aspire to be someone (or something) you can beat? That would be like Floyd Mayweather working hard to be like Juan Marquez. While on paper, it looked like an even fight, but in the ring (Or, the Nurnburguring) it was a different story.
The M is a sweet car, but GM has shown it can compete with the best from anyone. I think they deserve credit for that.
PS: You won't see many pimps in the CTS-V. They'll be in the Deville's, the S classes, the LS's, or the 7 series.
You can't really stretch out in a CTS-V, unless you're 5'6" or shorter. LOL

All GM has proven is that with the Government helping they can make a decent car, that and if you slap a Covette engine into anything you'll make it fast. I'd still rather have the Vette.

Some people are just HATERS!!! GM had the vehicle developed way before they took a dime from the government. You may be able to slap a "corvette" engine in it to make it fast, but GM must have engineered something right to be the world's fastest production sedan. We all know that the M5 is a great car but I think people needs to give props where they are due.
I do, the Corvette is a great car and has a great engine. That's the only reason the Caddy is fast. Also, Top Gear shredded the interior design, craftsmanship, and materials of the Caddy as cheap, poorly made, and ugly. It takes more than just speed to be considered "world class" - the devil is in the details.

LOL- it's a GM engine, not strictly a Corvette engine. Both are GM cars, so why not share compnents? Although they are of similar displacement, there are differences between the Z-06, ZR-1, and CTS-V engines. In fact, the CTS-V engine costs more to produce than the 7.0L 638 HP beast in the ZR-1. So, I see it naturally progressing in that direction, should GM not kill the CTS-V as we move toward greener vehicles.
PS: The CTS-V was a mean car, long before it's recent redesign circa 2007/2008. With 556 HP on tap, it's just meaner now. This car was on the drawing board long before the econimic meltdown of 2008.
The new bodystyle CTV-V is sexier (rounder) than the older (more angular) bodystyle. GM should have (and coudl have) been building world class cars all along, and they have been in other countries (Holden/Australia). It's about time some of that American ingenuity made it to the US shores. Hopefully, not too little- too late.
Mercedes E55/63 & CLS55/63 and the M3, M5 & M6 just need to scoot over to the right lane, and make room for the bad boy from Detroit that's passing on the left. Too bad the Pontiac G8 is leaving the party- or there'd be two GM bad boys stalking (and in some cases beating) the Germans.
Who is Top Gear? If they aren't Motor Trend, Car & Driver, Road & Track, or Automobile- their opinion doesn't count.
For a 30K premium, who cares about how nice the dash is? Caddy has come a long way- give credit where it's due. We all love the E60, but there are credible challengers out there. If you don't like the Caddy, you need look no futher than the Infiniti dealership to find another contender (G35, M35, M45...) While they have nothign that can match the M5, the M45 will give a 550i all it can handle.
It's not easy being (and remaining) a benchmark.
