I know it's not the same... but it is nearly the same. Only difference is the body.

I'm fairly sure that if a 5er came out in a convertible, it wouldn't be cheap either.

With the 6er being based on the 5er, it would not make sense for BMW to produce a 5 Series convertible to directly compete with it. Even if BMW were to produce a 5er bodied convertible, it would most likely cost about the same as the 6er Convertible. In marketing speak, the two cars would have a parasitic effect on each other.

As for a 5er convertible possibly outselling a 3er convertible. That would be highly debatable.

But 6er don't have 2.3L, 2.5L or 3.5L, if they put the same engine as the E60 they they mite sell more of them just like the 3er convertible.
I will love to buy a 625 or a 635.
Some ppl like me just what a small engine and go for the looks.
5er convertible possibly outselling a 3er convertible will never happen, But would might have dented in the 3er convertible sales.

No, they don't make a 625, but they do make a 630. As for the N54 twin turbo engine, I think that it would affect sales of the V8 650. Mind you, a 635 would be a sweet car. I don't think there is a 635 anywhere in the world. Doesn't HK get the 630i? Sales & marketing within each respective country determine what cars are sold. For instance, in Korea we get the LCI 528 with the N52 engine. Same as the U.S. and Canada, but we don't get the 535. The only 6 Series we get is the 650i convertible. Although the 6 Series is based on the 5 Series, BMW I believe wants to have some exclusivity for the 6 Series and keep it as sporting possible for a GT car. Therefore they don't put in the smaller engines. Just my opinion~
