Both are excellent cars to own. But the short answer is 997TT.
I had cancelled my M5 order and bought a 530xi for daily use. Currently on waitlist for a 997TT. There is really no logic way to choose between the E60M5 and 997TT, but it is always the 997TT that I think about owning when I close my eyes.

These two cars are so different that its really not fair to compare the two. The 911 is a faster car with better handling but the M5 is a practical 4 door sedan with plently of power.

O boy, mpower99; been through this, and in the end, im opting for the m6. Test drove the new Careera S convertible on the other day and was BLOWN away by its performance. But after deep consideration, i chose to stick with buying the M6. Why ? Well, M6 has more room, more HP, is faster, could be a daily driver and still be a track car ( M BUTTON!!!) excellent performance guaranteed. Also ill have a piece of mind knowing the fact that on the road, itll beat everysingle car out there, including the Careera S. Also on top of that, the M6 is cheaper than a careera S. M6 is here will be less than $130 gz CDN, while the porsche will be over $133gz for the convertible. But Porsche is just such a fun car, and like other people mentioned, if i had the budget, would buy both! Insurance is killer here in canada.
