...I test drove a brand new 2006 Silver Gray BMW M5 with 3 miles on it at BMW dealer in Atlanta area yesterday, and all I can say is WOW what a car! I bout new 2004 530i which I knew was no race car, but it is quick enough and exciting for me, I thought that way, until I test drove that Monster M5!

I guess to gauge the best way to compare with my 530i for acceleration is when I go from 0 to 80, by that time the almighty M5 is doing at least 100 + MPH and was climbing and going faster going faster! Unreal, then the salesmen said there's a upcoming stop sign just ahead, and you need to hit your brakes, and I did, and what a fast and no vibrations, but just a smooth stop!

In conclusion: If I ever hit the GA Lotto, I will have to buy me a new M5, (LOL) but until then I will try to be content with my "M5 want-a-be" but now getting 27 MPG City, and 34.3 HWY! My e60 530i with and M kit, and M5 rims. But I still just cannot get over that speed and handling performance of the new M5, and my little 530i now might not never be the same to me!

Eddie Presley

PS,
Does anyone know if you can talk BMW down on their MSRP price on the gas guzzler M5?
A BMW buddy of mine says BMW has been known but no too often on the M5s!

Maybe a little later or out of state... some rural areas... they are building a lot more E60 M5s than they were E39s so who knows...

Presley-

While picking up my 530i via Euro Delivery I had the pleasure of borrowing a M6 from BMW M GmbH to drive from Garching to Dingolfing for the factory tour. This is a pic my buddy snapped from the tiny back seat while I was bouncing off the speed limiter.

It completely "ruined" how sporty I thought my new car was! So I KNOW what you are saying!

FWIW more pics of that day here:

Euro Delivery, Day 2: M6

Curious to your stellar gas mileage.
My car is has around 1600 on the clock and my mileage is nowhere near that - did it significantly improve over time?
Your car looks fantastic BTW

It's always possible, but more likely if you have an established relationship with that dealership. I've heard from a few people that have got it $1k-2k under MSRP, and a couple of those had bought 2 or 3 cars (one bought 3 total cars at one time!), and a couple people have reported getting one off the lot that was sitting for a month+. *Technically* speaking, I got mine for about $1800 under MSRP, but that's only because of some special circumstances about how the dealer delivered my car to me, so my bottom line was still MSRP but NOT OVER!
