Dear All,
As I am new to my E60, I was hoping to get some initial support and help. Can you please advise me on how proper shifting is done in an SMG, in manual mode. My main question here is, at the time of shifting, do I have to release the gas pedal, just like in a regular manual, at the time of pressing the clutch? Or do I keep the accel pedal depressed the entire time and shift up/down?
Any further links / tips'n'tricks on this would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!
Kris

My Ride: 09 M5 (E60) Interlagos blue, Silverstone interior, with cold weather package. Adaptive Xenon headlamps and adaptive brake lights, hud, comfort access. Comfort seats, basically fully loaded.
and there are alot of threads on this topic. Its very simple you can read your owners manual, tells you everything in it. You do not have to lift your foot from the pedal while changing gears. It depends on you how long you wanna take to shift. M's can rev real high so dun worry you'll change it before it hits red mark
Not complicated at all. welcome to the board.

SMG is very forgiving you don't have to lift but if you do a slight lift it helps on smoothness. Don't lift all the way, just up to 1/4 gas then back to where you were is fine.

I had a thread recently asking about this as well, but does anyone else notice that at low speeds it shifts MUCH better in higher tranny speeds? I find it very clunky and rough if its in the lower speeds, and in and out of first specifically..
Also since i've recieved some advice about the shifting, and to keep my foot steady during regular shifting.. MUCH smoother..
