Everybody that has been wondering how you get into the M5 trunk (that hasnt got a key hole) when you have a dead battery, I have the answer
On the M5 if you pull the back seat forward there is a ring with a cable attached behind the seat, it is attached to the trunk lid and if you pull it you mechanically release the trunk
To get to the cable you just need the key to mechanically unlock the front doors
Now to see if one can retrofit it for the guys that have been fitting the M5 panel

What do you mean by "you pull the back seat forward"? Does the position of the back seat adjust? If so, why?

I meant the backrest part of the back seat can be removed by gripping it at the top and pulling it towards the front of the car

OK, the M5 I looked at didnt have folding seats
On a M5 without folding seats you can as with any BMW remove the seatback on the back seats ( the leather and foam part )

Are you talking about pulling the "glow in the dark emergency trunk escape" lever after using the split fold down rear seats??

you cant fold down the slit seats from within the passanger cabin, you need to release them from the trunk.

You don't even need to get into the trunk. You cant in the current e60. The key hole is just a lock. You jump start the car via the terminals under the hood.
