I think there are probably two places where that trend came from. The Benzs had the panoramic roof option that made the whole roof black. Then there's also the cars with carbon fiber roofs. That trend is moving past just white cars. I've seen it on a lot of different colors.

Oh, and who can forget all the Scions that have black roofs. =)

Todays pictures

I love it mate like our F430.

You may use a good foil and only cover it no need for the paint. Keep your car O.E. and still be different! (that's my copyright hey ) I am also thinking of sg like that,
for mate black get mate black wheels with polished lips to stand out more and not to be a German WWII Panzer lol good luck!!!

Everyone has their opinion, and maybe I've been away from BMW too long (over 20 years since last one of 11 total) and things have changed, but it used to be all about how the cars drove and how they made a driver feel. Now it's all about a making a statement?? I'm afraid I may not enjoy owning one again as much as I thought I would if that's what it's about now.

Am I the only one who loves the car the way it comes from the factory and see no need to repaint, or add a bunch of aftermarket stuff to it? Or maybe it's just that many ppl on forums like to do that stuff, and if I don't like it, I should stay off the forum?

Am I alone in this position?? Not trying to start a ruckus, just trying to follow the logic here.

tuco, i don't think you are alone. there are plenty of folks on here that prefer stock. on the other side of the coin, there are the folks that prefer to mod. i think for those that mod, it's less about making a statement but making their ride their own, individualizing (is that a word?) their own car. nothing too far from muscle cars back in the 60s/70s. regardless, the forum brings both kinds together to share the common thread (pun intended), the ownership of an e60, whether it's stock, modded, or on a ship somewhere in the world.
