there's no way even a heavily modded N54 engine can keep up with the M5 in the triple digit range. A M3 STOCK vs a modded N54 would be closer but even then it would only be able to keep up until 90 - 100 at best. After that the m3 would walk the N54 hard.
The jb3 stock vs Jb+ stock the dyno number are very similar. MonsterJ34 have you driven or owned a n54 with jb+ or Jb3? if not check the dyno's below. Both are very similar when the vehicles are stock. the jb3 has a greater tuning capabilities whereas the jb+ puts down decent amount of power but has less room for modding.

Towards the end, you can see the M3 starting to pull back up. The M3 just dosn't have the same beastly power up top as the M5.
M3 really wakes up with some bolt-on mods, especially the DCT.
vs. modded M5 -
For fun, Evosport C63 vs. M6 -

Just thought you guys should know that the 335 was running medium boost on his JB+ due to the hot weather conditions here. He will wait till the weather cools in Dec/Jan before taking it up a notch.
Overall, I am very very impressed with his car.
The question still remains though... can he take on a Camaro SS?

Here is a pretty good modded 335i vs stock M3, from the last M5board meet. (up to ~160mph)
Towards the end, you can see the M3 starting to pull back up. The M3 just dosn't have the same beastly power up top as the M5.

Gene did you hear the 335 go into limp mode during race 2?

I didn't realize the first race was in P400. Scared the hell out of me.

WERD!
If you drive the M5 all day in P400, dump it and get the 550 -- similar performance, more off the line torque and much better fuel economy. M5 is all about the power -- all of it.
