I'm considering getting an 2007 M5, but am weary about the SMG. I really don't want to get the 6-spd manual because I live where the stick would be hell. Now, I'm just wondering...since there's been many problems with the SMG, if I follow the 3500 mile break in of P400 and <5500rpm and <=S4, etc etc...will I be ok?

Also, whoever owns an M5 (06-07) can you please tell me how good/bad it's been, maybe some stuff I should know before getting it, or stuff to know when to get it, etc...

Thanks a lot and this forum is very nice.

*edit* Anyone have some dyno results?

What SMG problems are you referring to? (I'm not up on all the M5 stuff but I don't recall seeing anything with regard to SMG issues...)

I would think most of the problems have been ironed out by now. I havent really been following up on the M5 that much myself but check www.m5board.com theres a ton of info there.

Red cog of death. Reported by '06 M5 owners. '07 SMG M5s shouldn't have this issue.
