Default Clutch replacement

How do you know when the clutch needs replacing. I have a e60 M5 2005 with 85k on the clock. The gearbox doesnt change smoothly in the lower gears at lower speeds and i get the occasional bang from the rear.

WHen your clutch is gone you will know it. It will slip just like a normal manual transmission. Rough shifts and jerks are normal on these cars lol

Just had the clutch replaced, hot spots were the culprit to the slipping. Its runnning well now. It does use oil though but thats normal in this car right?
