The MB 6.0L twin turbo is the one in the S600 correct. Is not an AMG engine right?
its the engine behind the ...65 AMG. and with 612bhp/1000nm it is a stunner
as for the m3 engine, yes it is a masterpiece
ive driven one for long enough to realize this...imo best current engines are:
6.3NA AMG engine
4.3NA Ferrari Engine
6.0NA Ferrari Engine
3.8NA (was it) Porsche GT3 engine (how could it come third in a sub-class you brainless journalists???)
5.0NA Gallardo
i think that if you have to choose a bmw engine it would have to be the 3246cm3 m3 lump

and also they seem to have not included two amazing diesel engines.
MB
3.2 diesel tri-turbo (with 300bhp and 680nm
)4.0 diesel bi-turbo

Do agree on the Porsche engine though, i'm shocked not one of their's was listed, however the rest is bang on the money.

It's a good job they didn't ask you then. I'm happy with the decision of the professionals as they truly know what they're talking about & no MB engines in site.

so by blidnly believeing everything you are told, would you agree on the following... the 535d and m3 lap the Top gear course in the same time (exact), yet the m3 is 2.5s quicker than the m5 at bedford autodrome (as measured by EVO).. so that makes the 535d a quicker car ?? no
i suggest you read the motoring press, everyone is going crazy about the 6.3na AMG
next years awards is when the fun starts

they dont know as much as you think. There are a lot of commercially available engines that show stonger characteristics, including a better power delivery and better mileage..

germans, and dont even like their own engines

As for Top Gear, i love the programme but do not take too much notice as to the lap times as i know to a degree they can & have been fixed (a little). The M5 lapped the Ring quicker than the M3 & both were driven by the same driver in the same conditions. Certain tracks will suit certain cars better. I could get my Modified RS6 round the Ring quicker than i could in an M3 & believe me i pushed the M3 harder as it was not my car.
The point is this is an award & if you don't agree then tough as the decisions have been made. It's like saying the best actor Oscar winner is not the best actor & the actor you like is better. Awards are awards & the M5 V10 won & the 535d engine won it's class.
Final point if you're opinion is correct would cast shadows if MB won next year as you're stating the judeges don't know Jack, so if MB win it will be a shallow victory according to your logic

The awards are from different journalist's opinion and I don't think all of them like BMW that much.
Just accept the fact that BMW won and move on.

Now you're being silly. An M3 quicker than an M5 (that's funny). Was the M5 driven by a monkey? Anyhow, i don't believe everything i read & most tests will give the desired result to the testers personal favourite, as it's them that write the article (i'm also sure money changes hands).

Is this a cheesy way to cover up mb results on those awards?
I agree with the fact that awards are awards and they have been given with a scope. Although i am too amaized they didn't take into consideration the 3.6 liter 997 GT3 engine. I knew it was a 3.6 not a 3.8. Anyway the 3.2 straight six from bmw is still sa flagship imo.
And in conclusion i agree 100% with the last statement....
i was talking about the GT3 engine.. the 6.3 na is not in this years competition
