You should check out the recent thread on M5 Board. RPI did a test with the AFE and power loss was approximately 20 HP! I suggest not doing an intake and just stick to the RPI scoops and BMC filters.
Just curious

Neither. Open Air cone filters under the hood = power loss. This is the case with K&N Typhoons, is the case with the AFe's. the Gruppe M (closed) shows no gains... and I don't see how the Bimmian ones will fare any better. Go with RPI, ASR or Dinan.

Were there any follow-up tests with another M5, to exclude any anomalies from the results?

Bang for the buck, yank the charcoals, drop in a BMC filter or two (depending on your engine) and get an RPI scoop(s). I happen to know that the $2500+ Dinan's did not fare too well, but was much better than the AFE's. No dyno's on the west coast as far as i know for the ASR's, but in house dynos by the mfg shows positive gains (at $2500+ as well). The RPI setup will cost less than $400, or in the case of just 1 filter, 1 scoop, probably half that. I am having a friend with a 650i going to RPI to install one filter and one scoop, along with removing his CF. He will do a pre-post dyno on his V8.
