Originally the e60 M5 could not be certified. That changed about a year or so ago and now dealers can certify the car. I'm sure it is not cheap, however, I'm also sure it helps with the value of the car....

A search of bmwusa shows lots of CPOd M5s......

I was just at my local dealer and asked if they could certify the M in the showroom for me. Its an 06 black on black.
He was quick to say "sorry sir, not on any M cars".

I asked him again and if he's sure, and he said he's absolutely sure. whats the difference between a car being "certified" by BMW vs having just the warranty, etc?

He is full of crap, the more I call around the more I find that BMW is clueless about this car. Tell him to look at this site and search the M cars, http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...delSearch.aspx.

Also I found out that you can get maint on a CPO'ed car it's around $3100.00 and any dealer can sell you this.

Read this current thread on m5board. Looks like they are offering extended warranty and extended maintenance now. I actually just got a letter in the mail yesterday from my local dealer about a consultation for these services and I'll be calling them today to get the details.

Oops, forgot the link: http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e60-m5-e6...ty-wording.html

As an update, I called the number on that letter and they quoted me $4500 for 3yrs from warranty purchase date and 75K total miles (NOTE: NOT additional but total miles). This is for the extended warranty and they told me I need to go to contact the dealer for the extended maintenance. Apparently, this letter is from the parent company of my local dealer.

Please post what price they offer, I got 3100 here in Atlanta. Just want to see if it's bad as the range was to cert a M5. I got from 2200 - 5500 to get a M5 CPO'ed

I posted this on the M5board thread as well.

K, I talked to my dealer and this is what I got:

It was a bit of a cat and mouse chase at first since he didn't know anything about a mailer which has his dealership's name on it and even signed by one of their Program Coordinators (supposedly). So the guy I talked on the phone this morning and as posted previously quoted me $4500 for 3yr and 75K total miles. This Finance Mgr at the dealership gave me two options: $4,435 for $100 deductable or $3,861 for $250 deductable, same coverage terms for the extended warranty plan.

When I asked about the extended maintenance plan, he was adamant that they don't offer it for my M5. I told them about this thread and that this is a newly release program. He got my VIN and called me back and said "you're right, we do offer it now". He was a bit embarrassed to have learned it from me but anyway, he said the $2,195 is wrong and that there cost is $2,995. He's thinking the dealer that quoted the $2,195 used the price for a regular 5 series. He also said if I can get it for that amount, he suggests I jump on it. This would be for 2 yrs from the expiration date of my current original maintenance plan and 100K miles.

He then gave me a package deal for both the extended warranty and maintenance, $6,906.

I asked if an inspection needs to be done prior to doing this and he said yes and I told him that I have a lot of performance mods but he didn't say anything about it. They probably have to do the inspection first to make that assessment.

And lastly, the cluth would be covered under the extended maintenance.

Sounds good I got about the same info, it seems BMW does not really keep up with these cars but then again they have them sitting on lots for 9mo - 1 year so I am sure they are sick of them
