I don't know if that's true or not but why would you want run flats for your M5? Run flats are more for safety than for performance. They are also very stiff. The 18" run flats on a stock 545 rides rougher than a set of 20s with performance tires so I can't imagine how bad 20" run flats in a low profile set up like the one you need would feel.

Tony's right, you'll kill the performance of your M5. 20" rims and RFTs are a recipe for major rim damage; imagine the force involved when a pothole strikes a runflat tire and what the reinforced sidewall will do to the rim. A lot of OEM rims off the 545/550 have been damaged from some unfortunate pothole scenarios, even to the point of the rim splitting in half (which is extremely dangerous if an accident-avoidance maneuver is called for). Regardless of wheel manufacturing faults (or lack thereof), a runflat can destroy a rim ... and perhaps take out a few suspension components as well.

Keep in mind that a lot of quality high performance tires (like the Michelin PS2) are tough as nails AND you have a pressurized canister of fix-a-flat plus air compressor in the trunk in case a flat actually happens. When I had my M5, I ran lightweight 19" Dinan rims and PS2s which did WONDERS for the handling and overall ride quality over OEM.

Several choices for conventional tires in the correct size ... but alas poor soul - no RFTs.

Buy the mobility kit and a road hazard plan. If you buy at TireRack, shop thru the link in my signature for additional rebates. 4% on $1000+ helps pay for the other goodies!
