BMW may be refinishing my stock m5 166's because of a finish defect on the face and between the spokes of each rim.(see pic)

I was planning on getting some aftermarket wheels in black, but in the meantime has contemplated refinishing them finished in a BMW gloss black or matte black when BMW does so. I have been trying to find pictures of some e60forum members with this done, but cant find shit.

Any help here for pictures to make my decision easier?!? I should be finding out today or tomorrow if BMW will be doing this... but they had better!!!

Thanks guys,

Aartsy

Check with C - I think he refinished his 166's, but powder coated them. Either way, it would give you an idea what they will look like. I think they'll be unique and VERY nice. Great mod, especially for free.

I know. They are really sick wheels, im not a fan of how light they are though.. maybe they will look better in person, but if i were to buy a black wheel, i really want it the same shade as the car.

The main reason why i havent pulled the trigger on Dranged's 360's are because i'd rather spend 4'gs on RPI GT Exhaust and High Flow cats then rims, especially if i am getting BMW to refinish my 166's.

OK so.....

BMW just called me and they ARE going to finish my wheels for me.. The sales manager sais that almost every case they have done this that the customer is about 90% of the time unhappy with the result and the quality of the work when this is done.

BMW does not refinish wheels themselves, and he has been given a budget of $150.00CAN/rim to do this.

Normally he said that he just gets thier local guy to do it, but is letting me source out some places to find something(powdercoat)/someone i want specifically.

I AM DEFINETLY GOING BLACK!!!!! GOING TO BE MURDERED OUT SONNN!!!!

I need some advice... he sais that normally they strip the rim down and paint/clearcoat it... BUT dont i want these powdercoated?!?! What finish do i want, and what can i get around this price range!!

IM FRICKEN PUMPED!!! IM closer and closer to a "C" wannabe!

On your car I would go with Matte Black powder coating so that you can get some contrast with the beautiful metallic paint. You should look around for a good PC shop in your area and then see about the price. I would go with powder coat over paint - the finish is much more durable. BTW - CONGRATULATIONS!!! Not many mods come for free

that definitely does not look tacky/ghetto to me

I say go with a Matte Black finish (PC'd)...

Here's also member EuroCarFans M5:
