So I was originally planning to get the Mille Miglia rims but then I changed my mind after seeing these ASA rims posted here. They look quite similar to the style124 rims. Ofcourse the stock rims are nicer... but for the winter these are like a perfect substitute. I got the 17" variety after much thought due to the thinner 225 tires and the size even looks similar to stock. Here's some comparison shots for those interested:

The stocks are a lot niceR, but the winter wheels aren't bad either, especially for rain and snow

Those look like 20". How wide are they? I like them fine for winter driving.

These look great. I'm sure that the non E60 expert won't even see the difference.

Where did you pick these up?

I'm sure this is a dumb question, but if they are not BMW rims, how did you get the BMW emblem on them?

TireRack. They have a really good deal on them too, $129/wheel. I'm really tempted to get them to replace used E39 17" rims I used last winter.

TireRack can get you the BMW logos for the wheels.

Lomag, do you need centering rings for these wheels, or do these fit the E60 hub exactly?

Thanks,
Dave

I believe they fit exactly ... atleast I hope so. Tirerack said all that needs to be done is to take the old wheels off and put the new ones on. I'm no wheel expert.

Looks good Lomag. I may just copy your setup.

What tires and size did you end up with?

Yep! I was amazed how similar they look for such a cheap price.

They're 17", tires 225/50-17. I was thinking to get the 18" which would have been 245/40-18 but the thinner tires are better in the winter, so they say!

Winter performance, Dunlop m3 winter sports

Usually in the winters if there's a storm I try to stay in. Sometimes I have no choice and sometimes I'm already out then it starts snowing and I need to get home, but I think the compromise to get the winter performance was OK.

Depends on where you are too. If I was in Michigran I probably would have gotten Blizzaks or something.
