Hello all,

New to the board!

Quick question. I have HUD/NAV combo. For the first week of ownership, I found the HUD to perform flawlessly in all light conditions (I live in LA and as you know we get alot of sunshine here!!) I tinted the windows at 35% all the way around and as I drove out of the tint shop and turned north an unusual glare was washing out the HUD!!! I turned east and the glare disappeared. The glare continues to pop up on occasion and depends on which direction i'm heading and where the sun is at in the sky.

Has anybody experienced a similar situation?

Really? And you have HUD? Do you recall which tint you used?

I suspect you are using a polarizing film. If that is the case, the film can affect the HUD. I remember reading a similar situation on the board about this. I don't remember the name of the tread though. Good luck.

BTW: did you install a metal tint?

The tint shouldn't affect the HUD!
Is that glare blue?

Iceman's right -- that is unless you tinted the windshield!

Thanks for all the replies.

I did not use a metalic tint as the tint guy said that can affect the navigation system. And the tint is not glare blue

Also, I do not know if the tint is polarized. But again would that affect HUD? And the glare is only specific to when the car is heading a certain way with the sun in a certain place during the day. On cloudy days (like today) it performs flawlessly.

Any additional feedback appreciated!!!

Thanks!

I follow up with my tint guy and see what he says about the tint used.

Sorry! And the answer is yes the glare does have a blue tint to it.

I have no tint at all and sometimes the same glare. It has something to do with the sunlight. Kind of a reflection. I think it is the sunlight in the HUD itself - when the sun falls directly in the HUD.
