Do you by chance use a V1 radar detector? If so, tint films with metallic substances to reduce heat transmission will degrade sensitivity of the the V1 to detect radar signals from the rear. I believe that this may be the only caveat.

I've used my V1 wile driving my Camaro w/metallic tint all around for years and had no problems whatsoever picking up all radar bands and laser. As long as the V1 has a clear line of sight through the windshield it will work fine.
