I found on on Craigslist for sale and was wondering if just the driver side muffler will fit. I researched and found out that the whole quad system wont fit but what about just the driver side muffler for non-m and if so will there but any performance increase and better sound?

TIA

I doubt you'll get better sound or even performance. Stock M5 exhaust's are pretty quiet considering what's under the hood.

The M5 rear driver side muffler system will fit your car, as you know the battery box on the passenger side prevents you from using the full system. YOU also have a middle muffler after the CATS that will also restrict flow to the M5 rear muffler, if you choose to buy it. Remember you don't have a V10..... you can build an exhaust (buy the parts) for under $500. Find a good shop to install it for $300 - $400, there you GO, custom exhaust sounds for your personal enjoyment.

You can run a true dual (or quad as you mentioned) under your car with no problems. If you want some pics of the underside of my 530, let me know.

Since the M5 driver side muffler does fit under my 530i, would it be worth to purchase the muffler for $100 and deleting the middle muffler? about how much would it cost to delete the middle muffler? I know I don't have a V10, i'm not expect a whole lot. Just hopefully a little better sound and flow out of the M5 muffler and maybe get some tips to make it look better. Is this all worth it or should I just get a Magnaflow exhaust?
