I have 20's and they are fine. Only issue is when I have a full load, it will rub when I hit a major bump, but it's rare. I have a 2007 530 with the sport package and also live in nor-cali.

ride quality is almost identical. The profile sizes on 19"s is virtually the same , like mentioned earlier only diff is adding the 0.5 inch on each end. Just make sure the 20's are of a great quality manufacturer. Its when you do the lowering , and type of suspension that you get will make a bigger impact IMO on ride quality , and characteristics.

Remember when 20's were only for SUV's in the mid 1990's!
I love my 19's. The design of the 166's make them look BIGGER then some of the 20's on the market. Its personal prefernce I guess. Some guys like chubby chicks...
