Nope, in fact very few roads I drive on each day are smooth. Only when you get out on the interstates or major freeways are they slightly better.

Tell me about it Anand. I love Twanks on my ride, but for now my 18's will do. I take the back roads every morning down blalock and long point to work and boy, are those roads bad for your rims. I guess when I slap on my upgrades i should re-evaluate my morning route.

The difference from a 19" to a 20" is negligible IMO. You're basically adding a half inch difference in rim size (one inch gain is half gain on diameter at each end). I've got OEM 20's and they ride and feel like stock 18s, which is what I had before. Plus, you have a lot more to choose from in a 20 inch than in a 19.
What OEM 20s do you have???????

I think ride quality is the main concern. I think 19's look ideal on the E60! But if there was a 20" set I liked to fit my xi I wouldn't hesitate.

I have 17's right now and upgrading to 19's next week. Do I have to change my driving style because of the new rim? I mean, is it a big danger having the 19's as far as possible damage?

I think its mostly a personal preference. I love my 19" miro reps. The ride is about the same as the 18" stock sport rims. With 20", you have to worry about rubbing issues. It wasn't worth the pain for me to worry about that. I think that's why many of the forum members go 19". However, there are plenty of members with 20" too.

It comes down to personal preference at the end of the day. It you love the look and are prepared to be a bit 'precious' about your wheels, the 20's are well worth it. They really fill the arches. In terms of rubbing, you just need to deal with a good wheel place who will adjust with spacers and ensure you use the correct tyres to avoid it! Good luck, Pics when done yeah!!?

I have 20's and have not noticed any rubbing issues what so ever.
However I have not ran over a speed bump going 20+mph either!
