this is the location that i put it in for my amp.. it is right that amp needs to cool but i have no problem with my amp mounting like that and i had this set up for about 2 years now.
back left quarter panel is good option too but hate to disconnect all wiring when you have to take that panel off... I put it in there so if i want to take my sub box out i can do that within 5 seconds.
