Since you're more concerned about speed - definitely go 19s.
I had 20" Radenergie R10s and liked the look, but actually prefer a look with more rubber. I know everyone likes 20s, but for me it looked like the car was riding on metal.
So, I eventually went with 19" 172s. I am 100% satisfied now. Just remember to put some rear spacers on to give it that same flushed, wider stance.

I would go with a quality made 20" wheel. Mine are OEM and I have no problems with them bending. Besides, you're already going to have a low profile series tire, and there isn't that much more rubber between your rim and the road if you do 19". I agree with iceytys, though, that if you're going to get a flat faced wheel you can go with a 19" and 20" for a wheel with a lip.

With 20's, you're gonna be like me before-- replacing 3 sets of modulars a year!
I would suggest going with OEM 166/167's which are built really well and allow you to drive fast without too much concern for road conditions......

It depends on the rim design, a deep dish 19" wheel will look smaller then a 19" rim where the wheel design comes to the outter edge of the rim. So if you are gonna go 19" dont get a wheel with a lip, as it will look small, and 18" will look absolutely tiny in comparison.

I got 166 18" and they are much faster than my 19"acs.
the 18" corner much better too
