I'm sure this issue has been discussed ad nauseum, but can I run Conti DWS all-seasons on 19's year round and be ok? I don't plan on driving through multiple feet of snow, but I'm curious if anyone else in the PA/NJ/NY area run's 19's all year round on all-seasons and doesn't have problem in cold weather conditions with maybe 3-4 inches of snow. Please let me know. Thank you.

That's what I use in Denver with no problems. This includes trips to the nearby ski areas, too. But, I have an "xi."

I've run UHP All-Seasons for the past 3+ years on my 530xi ... no problem going even when we had 2' snowfalls. In the past I ran all-seasons on my e28's and 740's and NEVER had a problem getting around the Mid-Atlantic states. However, that often required a lot or patience - - and never doing anything KRAZY!

That said, I learned to drive in the snow while living in Syracuse and Utica NY! In my experience it's the combination of equipment and experience that counts. Even the best-equipped car in the hands of an incompetent or inexperienced driver can't make up for a great car with great tires!

Depends on how fast you are going and your driving style. I live in MA but I have lived in IL last year and driven all-seasons, including continental DWS, for a few months almost every year.

For example, I work in healthcare and my work requires me to be on call. Even with an inch of snow, my all seasons start crapping out, probably because I am driving in a hurry, braking too much and sometimes driving on unclean roads at 3am.

The other thing you need to factor is how long you plan to keep your car and will it be wise to invest in an extra winter set.

I am probably telling things you already know ..

Preface: Driving style in the snow is DRASTICALLY different (well, within limits ) than how I drive in dry conditions (read: Amateur Senna Status).

Now the backstory: I've had my car since June of 2005 with 108 miles on it. Took the crappy 16" 134 wheels off immediately and threw on some 18 x 8.5 Beyern Mesh's with Sumitomo HTRZs on it. Not a single issue except getting stuck in a pile of snow courtesy of Lancaster PA snow plows (mind you my car is RWD). Then I replaced those with Pirelli PZero Nero M+S. Again, all went well. Thanks to NJ potholes I busted up my wheels and now I'm back on the 134s and needless to say this car handles like ess aych eye tee. My concern is making the jump from 18x8.5 to 19x8.5 or even 19x9 (all square). I'm making the move to DWS.



Sahil (which is my name too coincidentally, and I'm starting my residency this summer which I'm assuming you are doing or have done haha), it's coming on seven years now and I always told myself I'd have a dedicated winter set but man am I effing lazy. The good thing is I'll be living within walking distance of my hospital. But regardless, my concern is being on 19s and all-season tires. Apparently if I drive like a normal human being, I should be fine?
