Are Wheel spacers a safety compromise?

I have a set of used 12mm H&R spacers on the rear that I bought form Trinity. I was also concerned about the geometry being thrown off, and the added pressure on the hub/lug nuts. I love to drive through all the Malibu/Valley canyons in my off time - and on my latest wheel screeching/skid light blinking adventure I literally noticed no difference. When I thought about it, having spacers isn't a lot different than having a deep inner hub on your rims. If anything the lugs might be the only weak link, but that's only speculation - I have no facts to back this up.

Are these the same as the tuner motorsports H&R spacers

Thanks for the info and your pm.

I was hoping to get from a UK based seller due to shipping costs and potential import duty/tax but can't find them anywhere.

Will contact acute

I've used almost all the most popular brand of spacers (H&R, Matt Schnell, Turner, Velocity) and I like the velocity motorcars spacers the best with TMS being second. I like the velocity's because of it lock down feature. I have been using spacers for a long time with no ill effects.

FYI, is you use a 5mm spacer with a beveled hub wheel you could get vibration since the actual wheel may not have enough contact with the axles hub. Always better to go with 10mm or above that have that hubcentric lip.

Which TMS spacers should I go with for my OEM 172m wheels on a 550i sport? I can't stand the recessed look of the wheels, especially in the rear. I'd volunteer some photos of spacers, install, and before/after pictures.

Did you do rear only? Longer bolts?

Yes rear only... Anytime you use greater than a 3mm, new bolts are required!

I agree with everything medik13 wrote, including the caution that your wheels are either sitting on the lip of the wheel spacers (10mm+) or still sitting on the lip of the original hub... you can't rely on just the bolts--- you need the wheel sitting on some lip.

When you increase the track width of the E60 (whether via spacers or new wheels with better offset) you WILL notice a nice difference in handling ability and confidence.
