Wheel Spacers
Hey guys, I want to run a set of 15mm wheel spacers on the rear of a 08 550i so I've been doing some research and I came across two types of spacers
Type 1 where the studs are extended

and Type 2 where the spacers bolt onto the original studs and the wheels bolt onto studs already on the spacers

anyone know which one is better/ safer to run and why? I see most users on the forum using the first type.. but in theory shouldn't the second be better? Although I have heard of some issues with the second type.. any advice is apprciated! Thanks!

I ran the seconds for a long time on my 5 lug drift car and never had any issues.
I have ran extended lugs and i HAVE broke those off in the past..
I think the second option you will only have larger spacer options too since it needs the room for the nut to attach to your hub.. If you can find both options for your car.. I like number two VS extended lugs. Make sure you get centric ones too as both of those options above do look to be..
good luck!

I have a 2007 550 with 20mm spacers on the rear. I'm using H&R spacers with extended lugs. Got them from turner motor sports. It's been almost 2 years now and no issues.

I've had Type 1 on my car for nearly 2 years without issue. However, I am concerned that whenever I go have my tires rotated, the tire tech might mix up the extended length with the regular ones used on the front. I think I'm going to mark them with a silver paint pen to easily tell them apart.
