capebimmer,

Are those rims stronger than stock 18" rims... i like 19inch but kinda worried about if it will bend easily?

also, what offset do i need to get?
Offset for the E60 in 19" is :
Code:
?8 ?x 19 Front - ET 20 - 245/35 R19Y
9,5 x 19 Rear ?- ET 32 - 275/30 R19Y

Is the following setup OK for the E60?
8.5x19 front - ET14 - 245/35R19
9x19 rear - ET18 - 275/30R19

Thanks.

From what I understand the diamater of the tire should not change more than 3% from the stock tire size.

Here is a really good tire size calculators where you can compare different sized tires to stock tires.

That is correct. The OE computers and sensors for most all brands usually can stand about a 3% variance, so you're getting close...and yes, the speedo is probsbly the least of your worries, as most speedos today are already optimistically inaccurate.
Reality is that there is lots of information out there, and a somewhat inexact science. I never thought my setup would work out with so few hitches, but it could have just as easily gone the other way. Hope this helps.

According to the calculator,

going from 17' to 20'(245/35/20 front and 275/30/20back) is way off.
That calculator is saying that my difference will become 9.99%

Way over the 3% suggested limit.

It also says that my speed would lower by 11% meaning when im going 60, i will actually be at 54.

Does this mean everybody going from 17's to 20 are having this problem?

Hi,

This might be a silly question, but planning on getting 19" rims to fill the wheel gap better.. the question is i dont want to compromise the ride... Is it possible to get a 19" rim with 245/40 in front and 275/35 in the rear? I noticed that that most 19" rims are 245/35 front and 275/30 in the rear. With those configuration kinda afraid that you will bend the rims more easily. thanks
The recommended tire size for regular E60 when upgrading to 19" wheels will be 245/35/R19 front and optional 275/30/R19 rear for staggered setup. If you ask if it is possible to run 245/40/R19 front and 275/35/R19 rear then the answer is "YES", as long as you have the right offset wheels. Alpina run that tire on their Alpina B5 car, which is base on regular E60. With this configuration you should be prepared that the speedometer will be not as accurate anymore.

For more information on ALPINA B5, take a look at http://www.alpina-automobiles.com/

I don't think you need to do this - as others have posted the oem tyre sizes on 19 inch rims ride as well as (or better) than 18inch run flats.

You just need to be careful with the rims - but the same goes for the 18's as well

Does this mean I am a fool to be running 20's on my 545i sport when the stock wheels were 18's?
