I know that PS2 is best but not totally sure I want to spend the money.
Are any of you buying the stock Contis again? I'm attracted to the fact that they are what BMW has chosen for this car specifically.
Goodyear F1 asymetrics seem good but have been reading about premature wear. Anyone have a long term review on these?
I may also consider the RE50A non-RFT. I have the RFT version on my 18s right now.
Appreciate your thoughts. I'm buying the odd 172 wheel here and there and assembling a set of 4 of the next several weeks (cheaper and easier than buying a new set!) so will take the plunge on some 19 inch tires in the next month or so.

You can't go wrong stepping up to the 172s. ![Twoup](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/twoup.gif)
Personally, I am very satisfied with the performance of the Contis that came with the car. But I would not place a ton of stock in the fact that BMW uses the Contis for the 550i Sport. Remember that BMW uses the PS2s on the M5. That says something.
I have known anyone who had the PS2s really dislike them. They are very expensive and their expected treadwear is low. A very recent tire comparo in Car and Driver ranked the PS2 only midpack in dry weather performance but number one in wet weather performance. There is another active thread here discussing the merits of a whole bunch of tires. That is a valuable and useful thread. There are many fans of other tires here besides the PS2 (which no one disputes are excellent top of the line tires).

I really like the Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics but can't yet comment on tire life. I only got 12k from the factory Conti SC2s.
EDIT: Corrected. I only got 12k from the Contis in 11 months.
I've put 8k in the last 11 months on the F1's.

I have Conti's on my 530xi, but only have about 5K on them so far. They are satisfactory but a little rough riding IMO, and I have had a couple of hydroplaning incidents. I won't be putting them back on when these are worn out.

Are you having any problems with flat spotting, vibrations, or difficult balancing the Goodyears? I've heard these comments about them on TireRack.
