Honestly, if I were you I'd just be content wit the 525 as is in stock form.

The money you would have to spend on mods to make the 525 even approach the 530 (forget about the 545/550) in terms of performance you could just outright have bought the 530 in the first place. Yeah, we're talking about $3-4k easily in mods.

Plus, with the costs of installation/labor and the hassles of potentially voiding your warranty (esp. with a chip or a FI setup), it's just not worth it.

Just be happy with your car. The 525 is a great car and plus with gas prices these days, it's probably the wiser choice in the long run.

Ahhh... your probably right... Just figured maybe I could do a couple of small things to make it a bit quicker...
Is the 530i really that much quicker though?

Youyou,

If you ordered a 525i you will not be dissapointed. And I have some points for you:

1. Please stop thinking of the 530i, just because there is a faster car than yours, this does not mean that yours is slow. Put it this way to yourself: My car is very fast, the 530i is faster. Just like that.

2. There is a difference between the 525i and the 530i in terms of speed. The 0-60 mph is 7.3 for the 525i, and 6.4 for the 530i so the difference is basically around 1 second. Assuming that you are at an average speed of 37 mph during the 0-60 run (just an approximation), this means that you are going to cover 16 m/s (52 ft/s) on average during this 0-60 run. This means that that difference of 1 second will result in a difference of 16 m (52 ft) between your 525i and the 530i. Yes I know that this not a short distance, but again 7.3 to 60 is not a slow car at all. Both cars have alimited top speed of 150 mph (I don't know if you reach these speeds in Canada or not, but here we do) so even on a highway the max speed will not be of difference.

3. Understanding your gearbox will be one of the key factors behind driving quickly. Whether it is manual or auto, downshifting properly and anticipating potential empty lanes to make your run, will definately make a difference. Keeping your engine always in its maximum torque range will help a lot. So I think that a good 525i driver can stick right behind a 530i, who will have a very hard time losing him on a twisty road. Of course that is only if the 525i driver is lucky enough that the road will not turn into a sraight line, where he will wish that he had bought the 545i in that case .

4. Enjoy your car when it arrives man, and as a last advice: don't go for heavier wheels , they will certainly cripple your car .

Ask Iceman! he knows where they are in the States,

supercharger voids your warranty and as it is a new car you got 2 yrs for all engine parts etc.

Then maybe the company will give you theirs but in case of a problem BMW will not do the repair for you under the warranty as they build the 525i not spare money and beat the M5

BUT... you may wanna chip it: my 0.02 it wud be ok.
Search the Forum or PM Iceman for the US address!
