Dear e60 Forum,

I am a die hard BMW E60 owner, and I am always doing new things with my BMW E60 530i that still gets 27city and 34highway mpg, I noticed in the UK there is a company that builds and sells BMW E60 M5s Replicas, made from any of the 5 series models, but one I noticed their mainly using the 525i's, and it gave me the idea of building one myself but using my 530i. Now of course before I get to much money spent $$$$$ I just wonder what it will be worth once completed, for a true M5 Replica package, The Package so far has cost me approx: $11,000.00 which included $5000.00 for M5 166 rims and tires. Its built on the E60 530i with majority of BMW OEM M5 parts for exterior appearance, which I lack three things, that I know of: 1) Rear M5 spoiler, 2) Gloss BLACK M5 window molding, and 3) BMW OEM E60 M5 mirrors?


I need all you guys opinions and thoughts before I get more into it, and I start working on the interior M5 speed and tachometer, M5 steering wheel, etc.

of course it won't appreciate/ gain extra on the current market value of the car...but, it will be an extra-added factor for you to sell slightly more than the market value - to a BMW inthusiast, that is...

if you plan to trade-in the car when it's time for you to replace the car, sometimes used-car dealers will take advantage slashing the trade-in value due to the mods done to the car...it always happens!!!...

when you plan to sell the car, just part-out all the goodies and sell them seperately - i guarantee you'll gain more out of this type of practice. But, to tell you the truth, you won't gain on $$$ when it comes to selling it, you just gain satisfactory when you were with it! just enjoy it!

take it from me! i know, because i've also done a lot of mods to my car!

My thoughts exactly. WTF??? My worthless opinion is this: if you're doing it for personal satisfaction, go for it. It's your car, you drive it. To each his own. If you think you're making the car more valuable due to nicer wheels and spoilers with the thought of resale in mind, forget it. As far as anyone in the car business is concerned, you've DEvalued the car. Also, of the things you've mentioned, you forgot M5 front bumper, M5 badges and most important ingredient - V10 motor??? I'm curious to know what you're intended result is, that will help in answering your question. You've spent $11G's so far?? Wow. That seems a bit excessive to me. You're probably not that far away from a real M5 with the sale of your car and the additional $11G's. Happy modding but do it for the right reasons.

5k for the wheels? wow.. u do realize you can get brand new ones from Garry at Newport BMW for 1500-1600 (probably 1700 shipped). And tires for like $560 from tirerack.com and shipped and mounted for like $650.

As far as spending 11k, how much was the rest of ur parts? you didn't get mirrors (1k), and you have the Mtech bumper, M5 fenders, and side skirts and M5 rear, with remus exhaust. That's like roughly 3500-4k, installed. (exhaust is like 1500, body parts is like 2k).

I think u probably spent 7k in parts and installation.

Also you would need shawdowline trim ($200), M5 shift knob ($300-400), M5 steering wheel and paddle shifter($1300), M5 trunk spoiler ($300), and M5 trunk finisher ($150).


If u like the look of the M5, go for it. just dont put any M5 badges. =)

I believe if you mod your car the way you like. but remmebr it is not an m5 so leave the badge off.
