That seems like a huge gain, for such a small price. I'd be concerned. Even if it did nothing for your power gains, what other side effects might it have on the motherboard of your CPU?
Powerchip wants $640 for their chip and says gains of 20 HP and 13lbs of torque can be expected. I'd tend to go with that, over the one you mentioned. However, from VT's comments in the past, unless you have your car Dyno'ed before and after, there's no way to really know.
I asked Powerchip if they would give me a full refund after doing a dyno test and they said they would not. That raised a red flag in my mind.

Based on some peoples account, the chip does wonders.
Member Nerwezzy with his 530i got a chip from Eurorev (speedinnovation) and said he felt the car improved about 10+ HP (butt dyno). Also, his gas mileage improved by 1 mile
here is member SoCalm5Mang review w/ the SpeedInnovation chip in his 550i: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=41397&hl=
However, for me poor 525i, they told me a chip would be a waste because its doesnt really do a difference and its slow as it is (185 HP). But I love my car looks, it is a certified p*ssy magnet

In my opinion, a remapped ECU is best effective when you have a CAI and free flow exhaust to go along with it.

In my first reply, I didn't click on the link that katheikia provided. That there is snake oil. I remember seeing these chips a few months back. They do nothing.
C - If you go for a remap ECU I suggest you get the AFE CAI to complement the remap and Magnaflow exhaust. If you think your exhaust sounds good now, wait until the AFE CAI goes on. Powerchip, Speed Innovation, Superchips, etc... they're all right around the $500 - $800 ballpark. What you get is better throttle response, speed limiter removal, optimum A/F mixture, and maybe some horsepower.

On a side note, I saw a new E63 AMG tonight on my way home from work. I totally thought of you. I must admit, that car is pretty sick!

J - Any idea what the cost is on this speedinnovation remap? Powerchip wants $640, which seems a bit high. I also need to go without my car for 3 days, as I have to Fed Ex them my ECU.
Also, what kind of magnet again??

640 sounds right. To be honest, I looked through the SpeedInnovation book at Eurorev, and the msrp for the chip is 599 for the 525/530 model. For 545/550, its more pricer ($799)

You need to remove the ECU from the car. When it gets to whomever they will download new software map into the ECU, thus the term "remapped ECU."
