I'd trace back all the wires i your trunk and disconnect them. It would suck to blow out the factory amp cause of some loose wires.

Based on pic #1 it looks like it has a nozzle on it, maybe the previous owner was a big haired woman and needed an extra spritz o hairspray every now and then? Or owned by some guy that REALLLY liked cologne?
