and how is this activated on a pre-LCI?

My Ride: 2005 530i Individual, DVD Package, HUD, Bluetooth, Comfort Seats, SR, etc
cannot be done, its part of the process of the coding for LCI lights conversion, you have to buy the whole kit to have this capability.
