Hi Guys,

I am a new E60 owner, well actually a used E60. I just bought a 2006 530i, black/black premium package. I got a great deal on a CPO over at South Bay BMW in Torrance. The car has 29k miles and I got it for $26K.

I am already addicted to this forum and I just bought my car last week.

Well I already have a problem.
I bought some rims and tires before I got the car.
I was dumb I bought some replica 19" 166's off of ebay. I got them from a store in Rosemead called vortex tuning.
I put on some Kumho's 245/35/19 (F) and 275/30/19 ?.
The problem is that around 40-50 mph I get steering wheel vibration and around 55-60 I got vibration in the entire car.
At first I thought the balance was off. I went back to the tire store and they rebalanced all 4 tires and the problem improved a little, but it is still very noticeable.

Any one have any ideas as to what it could be? And btw there was no vibration problem at all with the stock wheels.

Any input would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your new car!

There's plenty of information on this forum about vibrations. Do some searching.
Make sure you have hubcentric rings if the wheels have 74,1mm hub bore.

1. Hub rings

2. Balance rims

3. bent rims

One of the above are causing your issue. +1 above, most replicas are 74.1 instead of the factory 72.6 hub diameter.

Call the manufacturer and have then send you hub rings. Or go into your local discount tire or pepboys etc.. type tire installer and see if they have some

Any America's Tire / Discount Tire should have the 74.1 hub rings you need. They cost about $2 each. They may not look like much but they will make all the difference in the world with the vibrations you are describing.

I'll add one more thing.
Check the tire pressures as well.

I have stock 124 and since mine is 05 I do not have tire pressure monitoring system. My car is equipped TMS or however you spell it.
It only alerts me when one tire is dropped to about 10PSI lower than other tires. And I CAN feel the slight but definitely noticeable vibration
somewhere around 65MPH.
I think e60 is somewhat sensitive to its tire pressure. At least my e60 is.

This is a pretty common problem when people run replica wheels. Hubcentric rings will usually solve the problem.

Congrats and welcome to the forum! It's probably the wheels bro that's causing the vibration! I've had a very bad exp was generic wheels. Awhile back I bought a generic wheels for my civic, after the rims are installed the performance of the car change like crazy, it's vibrating like crazy. I brought it to Sears and mechanic said that it's the wheels that's causing the vibration. IMO, sell that rims and get a decent one. GL bro!

Thanks everyone for the response.
I went down to america's tire company. They did not have hub rings in my size. They ordered them for me and should be in by this weekend.
Hopefully that solves the problem.
I will post an update once I install them.

I don't mean to thread hijack here, but just curious about the Vortex Tuning rims -- are they generally a safe bet for good replicas?

I was thinking of going with M5 replicas from VT but I don't want to run into any of the aforementioned issues socal_doc is having here.
