So, when you have your 3G iPhone connected to the iPod adapter (for charging purposes), can you use the Dension USB connection to play music off an iPod? You would simply select the USB device from the menu to control the iPod, correct?

Thanks!

or plug the iPod into the AUX input and use the iPod to control. Its a guess, I don't have a Dension.

when you plug it in to charge it (into the Dension) you can also play music off it by selecting the iPod UI. no need for a separate USB connection as long as it's the dension that's doing the charging. i have plugged a 3G iPhone into mine and it charged and played music like a champ, controlled via idrive.

the usb device is for a flash drive or similar. if you want to want to play iPhone music but still maintain control via the iPhone you select the iPod GW. in that mode it plays whatever you select via the iPhone directly. there is no control of the iPhone via the iDrive knob this way, but it does still charge the iPhone as it plays.

Thanks but what I'm getting at is having the iPhone connected to the iPod charger to charge the phone and having my iPod connected via the Aux or USB connection (via USB iPod cable) so that music is played off the iPod and not the iPhone.

Pay attention to WHERE you get the power from... I connected it to a source that isn't the T30U (but something else, I don't know, I did it with a friend) and it completely drained the battery in a few months.

Now I removed the Dension and the drain is disappeared.

So long as you tap into the CDC power, you should be good.

ah. methinks you're better off hooking up the ipod to the ipod interface and charging the iPhone via the USB connection or a cigarette lighter. have not tried hooking up an iPhone to the USB connection though.
