My Ride: 2004 545i - Bone stock... help!
I'm in Vegas this week and I pop into the stealership to snag a few interior parts for my 04 545 and during the discussion he finds out my car is EU make in the Middle East, and he says that he can't help me as US cars are scaled larger, including all interior parts. Personally, I can't believe this. It doesn't make any sense that a company would have two different sizes of the same part, depending on where the car was manufactured or what region it was intended for.
The parts I was looking for are specifically; The idrive knob with leather insert (he said this didn't exist that would fit my car anyway), the wood center console trim, wood gear shift, and potentially the wooden trim for the steering wheel (I'm on the fence if this is over the top, just not a fan of the titanium stuff).
To suggest that the US parts for these would be LARGER than my car seems absolutely ludicrous. So please, is there ANY truth to what this guy is saying?
If so, it really screws my plans to ship over a US made 550 to Dubai at the end of the year if I'm going to have a tough time getting any parts for it!! (not that I think it's true).

Yes, it's larger. Because people over there are larger
Also BMW cars in Asia are smaller - compared to US bimmers they are more like Matchbox cars

the idrive knob should fit without any issues. my friend bought an m5 knob from Garry here in the US and fitted it on his EU e60 RHD.
as for the wooden trims, it MIGHT be different for RHD and LHD cars.

Some of the parts are different for RHD and LHD drive cars, but if yours is a LHD, the interior trim parts should fit. I even think that the part numbers are the same.

It's LHD in the Middle East. I could have seen a difference if it were RHD. I thought the guy was full of it, what the hell. I just wish Garry shipped internationally, he'd by my new best friend. I think I'll just hunt down the part numbers on realoem, walk in and ask for them. Or hell, I should just buy from someone on the board and avoid the stealerships altogether.

The guy was full of it, next time just ask/pay for the parts without justifying any of his questions.
You can't get more universal parts for a LHD E60 than you mentioned above - the guy needs a good

Also: I have a full set of poplar wood trim set if interested including the wood auto gearshift. I changed to a custom interior some months ago and might sell the (complete) wood set.
