Why force a ZUSB? Is there a particular need for that ZUSB. Would a simple update not work?
Problem with forcing a ZUSB is that WinKFP will just do what you tell it and that ZUSB may not be for your regional variant etc. So best to stick with Update ZUSB in which case WinKFP choose the highest version available for your car.

You are probably among the first person to actually give us common folk actual insight as to the proper use of this program.
Thank you Bruce, I am going to try this because I have a spare CCC I want to completely update (for learning purposes)

Because I didn't know that was an option.

When you choose Update ZUSB, WinKFP looks up its internal upgrade path for the SW and HW for the module being updated and offers the Highest version compatible. When choosing Update you don't need to provide a VIN because the VIN number is retained. However if you provide one then that will be used.

Hi guys. I've been following this post closely and after reading it several times I decided to go ahead and install the new idrive controller in my e60:
E60 LCI 535d
BUILD DATE: 08/2007
CCC Idrive
I updated my software using winfkp as instructed. It was exactly as described. Great write up by the way
Let the car sleep. Then plugged in the CIC controller, (of course wired up correctly using old pins 1245 from the old 8 pin connector)
Switched it back on and controller does nothing.
Plugged in the old controller and nothing.
I tried updating the CCC again via the forced method. Succeeded again but same outcome.
Checked the programming and it's already setup with low slopes.
Am I missing anything???
I'm sure it's something simple but what...
The only confusing part to me is. When I read info via inpa the vin is displayed with :??????? And last date for programming is the original date.
Now I am wondering. Did it update at all? I suppose it must have otherwise my old controller would still work but it doesn't. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
